Driver helps save sick girl
    2019-05-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A DRIVER with car-hailing app Didi Chuxing helped save a sick girl whom he managed to drive to a Longhua District hospital in 20 minutes during the evening rush hour, southcn.com reported Monday.

The Didi driver, identified by his surname Li, received an order from the girl and her mother who were in Guanlan and wanted to go to Longhua District Central Hospital to see a doctor. Li arrived to pick up the mother and daughter in three minutes at around 6 p.m. May 11.

Li recalled that the girl was still conscious after getting into his car but she told her mother that she felt cold. The girl started shaking and her face became pale shortly thereafter, according to Li.

“I checked the traffic situation on my GPS, which showed that many roads were congested,” said the driver. “Even if we ordered an ambulance, it would have to come from the opposite direction to reach us, which had even more terrible traffic.”

Given the situation, Li immediately called the traffic police for help and a traffic police officer on a motorcycle was dispatched to escort them to the nearest hospital, Guanlan People’s Hospital.

With the assistance of the traffic police officer, Li was able to drive to Guanlan People’s Hospital in 20 minutes, earning the girl more time for medical treatment. The journey would normally take at least 35 minutes.

Li left the hospital after the girl’s other family members arrived.

The girl is currently recovering, the report said.
