Medical team serves impoverished areas
    2019-05-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FIVE doctors from Bao’an District People’s Hospital, led by Zhang Shoubin, who serves as the head of Du’an County People’s Hospital in Guangxi, offered medical consultations to local people immediately after arriving at Lalei Township in Du’an Yao Autonomous County on May 16.

Local patients flocked to the Lalie clinic for free consultations. Even as the temperature reached 30 degrees Celsius, the Bao’an doctors checked patients’ symptoms and their medical records to offer diagnoses and suggestions.

After the consultation session, a special lecture on the treatment of common diseases was organized for local staff of the Lalie clinic. The lecture addressed prevention and treatment strategies for hand, foot and mouth disease, as well as vertebra diseases and the standard treatment for community-acquired pneumonia.

Zhang and the other four doctors went to Suzhen County to offer medical consultation the next day. A middle-aged woman rushed to the center to seek treatment for her child. Zhang checked the kid and confirmed the diagnosis of thalassemia major. Zhang told the mother about the disease and offered her guidance on daily care.

Zhang and the five doctors formed the fourth medical team to go to Du’an last December to offer medical services. They have overcome a series of difficulties.
