Forum highlights Chinese and German innovation
    2019-05-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A FORUM focusing on the integration of innovative designs and industrial manufacturing gathered top designers and experts from China and Germany in Bao’an District on Sunday.

The forum, co-organized by Bao’an Sino-German (Europe) Industrial Development Cooperation Alliance and Bauhaus-Universitat Weimar, was held on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the German university and the first anniversary of the release of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area development plan.

It discussed how to integrate Bauhaus’ design concepts into the construction of the Greater Bay Area to promote exchanges and cooperation in innovation and creativity between the area and the world.

Ben Rudolph, executive committee member of Bauhaus, said Bauhaus has always been an experimental institution that constantly explores the design of architecture, industry and other fields.

According to him, all of Bauhaus’s innovative ideas are based on thinking about the best life for human beings. This practice is very similar to that of Bao’an, which is developing into a strong industrial base through constant exploration.

Rudolph said he hoped to further strengthen technical and academic exchanges with institutions in South China and to convey Bauhaus’ teaching ideas.

Additionally, the university plans to set up different kinds of think tanks and cloud platforms in the field of design to collect creative ideas from all over the world, so that everyone can share their innovative ideas and deepen exchanges and cooperation on these platforms.

According to statistics, more than 1,000 Bao’an enterprises have maintained economic and trade relations with Germany, with an annual import and export volume exceeding 1.5 billion euros (US$1.67 billion). (Zhang Yu)
