JIA LINCHANG, an employee with China Huashi Enterprises Co. Ltd. in Shenzhen, successfully conquered Mt. Qomolangma at 8:25 a.m. Nepal time, which is 10:40 a.m. Beijing time, Monday, according to a report by DNews, a news app of the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

Conquering Mt. Qomolangma had been a lifelong goal for the 54-year-old Jia, a graduate of Southwest Jiaotong University. After 10 years of planning, Jia started his journey April 5.

“Every step on the trail to the top of Mt. Qomolangma is life or death,” Jia recorded in his notebook.

“Every step on the mountain is testing the limit of the mind and body. If we put full faith in our movements, our dreams will be reached eventually!” wrote Jia.

A news piece released on www.sohu.com shows that Jia joined a team of 16 people, comprising five Chinese, two Greeks, one Indian and eight Sherpas. Fourteen of them reached the top first, and the rest reached the top one hour later. The weather near the peak was clear, so the team was able to summit without too much difficulty.

Jia sent a message to Southwest Jiaotong University after reaching the top in time to celebrate the university’s 123-year anniversary, expressing his appreciation for the education he received from the school. (Liu Jieyu)
