Dried sea horses

SHENZHEN Customs seized 10 dried hippocampi, commonly known as sea horses, weighing 40 grams, from an inbound traveler at Wenjindu Checkpoint after the traveler’s luggage went through the X-ray check May 19. Customs confiscated the dried sea horses, each measuring about 20 cm long, as the traveler couldn’t provide related documents.

According to the law, hippocampus is one of the endanger species that are banned.

Smuggler caught

A DRIVER was caught attempting to bring undeclared diamonds and brand-name watches across the border at Huanggang Checkpoint on May 17.

The alleged smuggler had the diamonds taped around his body and hid the watches in his car when crossing the border. The diamonds and watches were estimated to be worth 4 million yuan (US$578,486) in market value.
