New measures to improve car-related services
    2019-05-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CAR owners in Shenzhen who transfer their vehicles to other cities won’t need to undergo vehicle inspections or apply for printed files in Shenzhen.

Instead, they will be able to apply for a vehicle transfer at the police vehicle administration office in their destination city.

This is one of the 10 measures streamlined by the Ministry of Public Security to improve services for the general public that will take effect June 1.

Those who are unable to finish driver’s license examinations due to working, studying or living in other cities in China can apply to take the examinations in the other cities by bringing their ID card to the Shenzhen vehicle administration.

Car owners can also swap license plates of the same type between cars registered under their name once a year.

The ministry has also increased the time period within which a car owner can keep the original car plate number from one year to two years after the car was canceled or transferred to another city.

Five criteria must be met in order to swap car plates. The vehicles must have the same owner, the same place of registration, be of the same type and must not be designated for business operation.

Police have also authorized local car dealers to give temporary paper license plates to car buyers in order to save time for the owners, according to the police.
