THE city’s traffic police authorities are piloting a safety program by setting up 20 emergency cone sign boards, one every two kilometers, on the intercity expressways in the east of Shenzhen. The sign boards have serial numbers that can help drivers report their exact location to police in cases of emergencies or accidents. The reflective cones with flashing lights are easy for drivers to find at night. The move, said to be the first of its kind in China, is aimed at reducing secondary fatal accidents following traffic accidents, according to Shenzhen police. (Han Ximin) |
