Locked shared bikes AROUND 20,000 Mobike bicycles are illegally installed with personal locks in Shenzhen every year, according to bike-sharing services provider Mobike. The company said its operation and maintenance teams have to deploy a lot of manpower and material resources every day to unlock the bikes that are locked privately. It has found numerous cases of sabotaging and hiding the bikes, destroying and covering the bikes’ QR codes, and posting advertisements and spraying painting on the bikes. CPU smuggling SHENZHEN Customs caught a Hong Kong traveler carrying 898 CPUs (central processing units) hidden in a retrofitted electrical wheelchair across the border at Futian Checkpoint on Tuesday. The customs officers discovered an abnormal battery box at the bottom of the wheelchair when inspecting the traveler’s belongings and seized a total of 898 CPUs that were neatly stacked in the battery box. The traveler holds a disabled person’s certificate. She claimed she had received 300 yuan (US$43.4) as pay. Drug dealers busted THE Longgang police recently arrested two suspects who are involved in drug smuggling and trafficking. The police found that one of the suspects identified as Chen had been trafficking drugs between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Chen and his accomplice were captured by the police in Chen’s rental apartment Sunday. A total of 77 bags of marijuana weighing about 37 kilograms were seized. Flight to Van Don A NEW air route was launched between Shenzhen and Van Don in Vietnam on Monday. The route is operated by Donghai Airlines with round-trip flights scheduled every Monday until June 10, and every Tuesday and Saturday after June 18. |
