Ants intercepted

CUSTOMS staff in Harbin, capital of Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, have intercepted two living Australian bull ants and more than 10 ant eggs.

The poisonous ants, with lengths of 2.5 cm and 3 cm, respectively, were discovered in two test tubes imported from Australia, declared as “hobby supplies,” the customs office said yesterday.

Ancient family tombs

A LARGE ancient family tomb group and 51 relics dating back to the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) have been unearthed in Hefei, capital of East China’s Anhui Province, according to the province’s cultural relics and archaeology institute yesterday.

Thirteen tombs and relics, mostly made of lacquered wood, porcelain china, gold and silver, were discovered during a road construction project in Hefei’s Changfeng County.
