Government to probe FedEx for ‘misrouted’ deliveries
    2019-06-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHINA’S relevant government department decided to open an investigation into U.S. shipping company FedEx, for suspected infringement of Chinese customers’ legitimate rights and relevant laws and regulations.

The move came after the company claimed it “misrouted” deliveries of parcels of Huawei Technologies.

Two packages containing commercial documents sent from Tokyo to Huawei’s office on the Chinese mainland May 19 and 20, and two other parcels mailed from Hanoi, Vietnam, to Huawei’s branches in Hong Kong and Singapore on May 17, all found their way to the United States through the package delivery services of FedEx.

“The recent experiences where important commercial documents sent via FedEx were not delivered to their destination, and instead were either diverted to, or were requested to be diverted to, FedEx in the United States, undermines our confidence,” Joe Kelly, a spokesman for Huawei, told Reuters.

“We will now have to review our logistics and document delivery support requirements as a direct result of these incidents,” the spokesman said.

FedEx apologized for the “misrouting” of the parcels five days later, claiming no external parties were involved.

Although FedEx claimed that these were “mistakenly routed,” public opinion has questioned whether the U.S. Government was behind the acts by the American company. Such “mistakes” go contrary to the normal service standards of FedEx. (SD-Agencies)
