Shenshan outpatient department opens
    2019-06-11  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shenshan outpatient department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital officially opened Thursday, marking the integration of the healthcare system of Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone with that of Shenzhen, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

Covering an area of 468.3 square kilometers, the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone has only four community health centers, according to the Daily.

In order to provide better medical services for the zone’s residents, the Shenzhen Municipal Government decided to open a hospital in the zone and that Peking University Shenzhen Hospital would be responsible for the construction and operation of the hospital.

To this end, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital and the special cooperation zone authority agreed on a “three-step” plan to successively build a medical clinic, an outpatient department and a hospital in the zone.

It took less than 100 days for the Shenshan outpatient department to be completed after the project was approved last year.

Chen Yun, president of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, said the hospital will provide convenient, high-quality and safe medical services that are of the same standard as the headquarters in Shenzhen, to residents in the special cooperation zone.

General surgery and general internal medicine services are available in the outpatient department during its trial operation, according to the Daily. The department will subsequently offer other specialized outpatient services once it opens for formal operation.

In order to ensure the emergency first-aid capabilities of the zone, the outpatient department and Peking University Shenzhen Hospital have also established an emergency rescue mechanism that includes aerial rescue.

By using a helicopter, patients can be quickly transported from the zone to the helicopter apron of the surgical center at the hospital within 25 minutes, which can help those suffering from cerebral infarction, myocardial infarction and severe trauma win the race against time.

A 5G ultrasound aerial clinic has also been set up at the outpatient department, which enables the ultrasonic specialists at the Peking University Shenzhen Hospital to remotely conduct ultrasound examinations of patients in the cooperation zone. Meanwhile, high definition images can be transmitted in real time with the help of 5G networks. (Zhang Yu)
