A 5-YEAR-OLD boy was left in critical condition after he was hit by a window that fell from a high-rise building in Futian District on Thursday.

A video from a fruit shop shows the boy walking past the housing estate in Huaqiangnan, Futian District with his mother at around 9 a.m., when suddenly a window falls from above and knocks the boy to the ground. The broken glass was scattered across the ground along with the boy’s blood.

The fruit shop owner surnamed Zhou immediately called the police and the boy was rushed to nearby Shenzhen Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. According to a report by the Southern Metropolis Daily, the child was on life support when he was taken to the hospital. He was later transferred to Shenzhen Children’s Hospital for surgery.

Futian police have started an investigation and the preliminary result showed that the window belonged to an apartment on the 20th floor, which had been rented out.
