Pinhole camera found in fitting room
    2019-06-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

LONGHUA police are investigating a pinhole camera that was identified by a female consumer in a Uniqlo fitting room in the Longhua ICO shopping mall Saturday.

The customer, surnamed Zhong, had collected five clothing items to try on and walked into the No. 7 fitting room in the Uniqlo store at 4:30 p.m. After trying on two of the items, she suddenly saw a button-sized dot above the fitting room’s mirror. She tore off the dot and found a camera glued to a wire.

Zhong immediately called the shop manager, surnamed Luo, who found a whole set of the pinhole camera devices after disconnecting the camera from the wire. Luo then called the police.

There are 10 fitting rooms in the Uniqlo store in Longhua.

“Since the store opened, we had never encountered anything like this,” said Luo. “We also checked all of the other fitting rooms, and they are all fine.”

Luo admitted that they don’t conduct such inspections of the fitting rooms during their routine checks.

In May, according to a Daily Sunshine report, travelers in Qingdao found a pinhole camera in a Wi-Fi router next to a bed in a hostel. The investigation indicated that the suspect had installed the camera in the router in March. (Liu Jieyu)
