Shajing assigns responsibilities on garbage classification
    2019-06-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

BY signing responsibility agreements with communities in the subdistrict at a work meeting Thursday, the Shajing Subdistrict Office aims to improve work on garbage classification, the Bao’an Daily reported.

The subdistrict office gave specific instructions to the communities, including Minzhu, Xinyang, Bogang, Gonghe, Shasi and Dawangshan, to implement garbage classification among residents.

An action plan was released during the meeting. The subdistrict office is hoping to meet several goals by the end of the year, such as withdrawing all garbage buckets placed on each floor of residential buildings and setting up fixed collection points for residents to drop garbage into the correct bins after classification.

The subdistrict office said it hopes the rate of garbage recycling will reach higher than 30 percent by year-end.

So far, 29 residential complexes in Shajing have upgraded their garbage classification bins. The move has passed the municipal authority’s examination and received recognition from the higher authorities.

A total of 97 other residential complexes will upgrade their bins so residents can classify garbage and put it into the correct bins in the following months.

By the end of June, old trash bins on the streets will be removed, and pedestrians will have to take garbage home and dispose of it after classification.

Other public institutions in the area, such as kindergartens and schools, also share part of the responsibility for educating children about classifying garbage properly. (Zhang Qian)
