BAO’AN District is ramping up efforts to treat odorous and blackened water to ensure all water treatment projects will be concluded on schedule. Guo Ziping, head of the Bao’an District Government, led a team Monday to inspect water treatment projects in Yanluo and Shajing subdistricts. Guo inquired with the staff on site about the progress made on the projects. At Yabianchong, a tributary of Maozhou River, Guo checked the design plan as she listened to a report given by the construction unit to see if there was anything in need of correction or modification. Guo emphasized that each unit should optimize its projects by making full use of technologies and practical methods to complete them by October. She also urged the water treatment project contractors to find solutions to issues like project delays and unstable drainage systems. “Other work should make way for water treatment projects,” said Guo, while pointing out the importance of safe construction. With the unremitting efforts, the Sanzhi River in Hangcheng Subdistrict, which was once identified by the city’s environment authority as a heavily polluted river, has become clear again, the report said. Running towards a drainage ditch near the Bao’an airport, the river extends 2.27 kilometers with 39 sewage outlets. The polluted environment has caused enormous inconveniences to local residents. In order to restore water quality, three major projects have been conducted. Under the projects, nearly 1.46 kilometers of sewage interception pipes and 1.91 kilometers of new water pipes were built, along with treatments on 39 sewage outlets. Next, work will be done on the culverts along the river, according to staff from the district water bureau. (Wang Jingli) |
