State-owned assets

BY the end of 2018, the total amount of State-owned assets in Shenzhen had exceeded 4.1 trillion yuan (US$598.09 billion), an increase of 21 percent year on year. Net assets stood at 1.95 trillion yuan, an increase of 17.9 percent compared to a year ago.

The report classifies State-owned assets into four categories, namely, assets of State-owned enterprises, State-owned assets of financial enterprises, assets of administrative institutions and natural assets.

There were 2,724 senior executives employed in State-owned enterprises, excluding companies in the financial industry, in Shenzhen last year, with salaries totaling 1.52 billion yuan. Their per capita annual salary stood at 557,000 yuan.

Undeclared fireworks

CUSTOMS officers in Shenzhen seized a total of 890 boxes of fireworks and firecrackers, considered dangerous goods, on June 16.

No safety measures were taken in transporting the batch of fireworks and firecrackers, posing safety hazards to the port’s operations, warehousing and transportation.

According to relevant regulations, there are special requirements for the export of dangerous goods. The packaging of dangerous goods must be appraised and be labeled properly.

Smart translator

A UKRAINIAN visitor’s bag containing important documents was lost at Futian Checkpoint and later retrieved with the help of police officers at Huanggang Checkpoint and a translation machine.

As the visitor is from Ukraine and only speaks Russian, Cheng Lei, commander of the 21st detachment at the checkpoint, promptly took out the translator, which was distributed by the border inspection station, to help understand the visitor’s request and finally retrieved his lost package.

More online services

SHENZHEN’S housing provident fund management center has recently made new online self-services accessible via WeChat, offering facial recognition services for applying for CPF-related businesses.

For example, residents can now terminate monthly mortgage payments through WeChat, and residents with real estate in Shenzhen can withdraw the provident fund to repay loans.

Loan payment information can also be obtained on WeChat.
