German leader Merkel seen shaking again
    2019-06-28  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

GERMAN Chancellor Angela Merkel was seen visibly shaking again at an official ceremony Thursday just one week after a similar episode.

While German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier was handing over the certificate of appointment to the new German Minister of Justice, Christine Lambrecht, the chancellor’s whole body suddenly began to tremble.

As soon as the chancellor moved, she appeared fine again, reported a Deutsche Press-Agentur (dpa) photographer, who caught the episode on camera.

Merkel was offered a glass of water, which she accepted but returned immediately without drinking it.

Last week, Merkel was seen trembling considerably when she received Ukraine’s new President Volodymyr Zelensky.

While Merkel and Zelensky waited for the German Armed Forces guard of honor to pass, the chancellor’s body began to tremble violently.

Merkel later explained that she had had too little water on that hot day, when temperatures in Berlin exceeded 30 degrees Celsius.

Merkel is scheduled to travel to the G20 summit in Japan at the end of this week.

German Government spokesman Steffen Seibert told dpa Thursday that “everything is going ahead as planned. The chancellor is doing fine.”
