Gas leakage

AN excavator at a construction site in Bao’an District broke underground natural gas pipelines Friday. Residents living close to the site were evacuated.

The gas and electricity supplies of around 1,001 homes and stores were temporarily cut off.

The manager of the construction company said the accident was caused by the workers’ carelessness. The gas supply resumed at around 8 p.m. the same day.

Checkpoint project

WORK on the reconstruction of Huanggang Checkpoint was initiated recently and will last for 42 months, the Shenzhen Municipal Public Works Bureau said.

The decades-old checkpoint, which was put into operation more than 30 years ago, is the first checkpoint in China to have implemented 24-hour service. The service won’t be affected by the reconstruction work.

Falling object

AN air conditioning condenser fell from the 11th floor of a building in a housing estate in Futian District on Monday. Nobody was injured.

The accident occurred due to a worker’s improper actions during the machine’s installation.
