THE first intercity bus line from Bao’an District to the neighboring Dongguan City, M184, was put into operation Friday. The bus travels between the bus terminal on Fufeng Road in Bao’an and Chang’an West Railway Station in Dongguan between 6:30 a.m. and 10 p.m. There are 50 stops along the route, with 33 in Bao’an and 17 in Dongguan. A single trip, running 25.3 kilometers, takes 90 minutes. The fare for a single trip is 2 yuan (US$0.29). A resident surnamed Zhao was one of the first riders to take the bus line Friday. “The opening of the line is of great benefit to workers like me, who live in Chang’an [a township in Dongguan] and work in Shajing [a subdistrict in Bao’an],” Zhao told the Bao’an Daily. Zhao said he usually stays in his company’s dormitory on weekdays due to the long distance and inconvenience of commuting. According to the Bao’an management bureau under the city’s transport authority, the opening of the bus line not only provides convenience for Bao’an residents traveling to and from Dongguan, but also for Dongguan citizens coming to visit tourist attractions in Bao’an and downtown Shenzhen.(Zhang Yu) |
