Landmark building to be completed in Baguang
    2019-07-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

AN exhibition hall to display the development and planning of Baguang in Dapeng New Area will be completed this July.

It will be the first landmark architecture since the construction of infrastructure facilities at Shenzhen Baguang International Bio Valley.

In an effort to promote the construction of Intelligent Baguang, the command headquarters developed the Building Information Modeling (BIM) system and intelligent operation system of Baguang exhibition hall based on BIM and IoT (Internet of Things) technologies and the Sponge City concept.

In its design, the exhibition hall adopts Sponge City technologies for four aspects, namely building the roofs, landscaping, roads and squares, and drainage system. The greenery on the rooftop can restore rainwater, the concave shape of the public green space can easily retain and absorb rainwater, and the drainage system can filter and recycle the water.

The permeable surface of the sidewalks, parking lots and public squares can regulate and store the water, which can be used, after simple treatment, for irrigation, cleaning and landscaping.

There are a total of 49 infrastructure projects in the Baguang area, 41 of which have entered the construction period. Since the beginning of the year, the construction command headquarters has coordinated to conduct land requisition and relocate water, power and gas supplies, and has started researching ecological restoration, garbage treatment and transportation systems. Work on the city’s first intelligent garbage collection system was initiated earlier this year. The system, which will be put into use in September, adopts advanced automated pneumatic pipe transport technologies to ensure garbage is collected in an enclosed, noise-free and pollution-free environment. It is comprised of three parts: garbage collection locations, a pneumatic transport system and a central collection station.

The garbage will be sent to the central station using air pressure inside the pipe system, reaching a speed of 70-80 kilometers per hour. Residents will be able to drop their garbage into the garbage collection area set up on each floor. At the central station, the garbage will be compressed and transported to landfills or incineration sites via enclosed garbage trucks. The garbage will be sorted until it reaches 80 percent of the capacity at each collection point, and then the system will automatically instruct the pneumatic system to pump the garbage to the central station.

As one of 10 innovation platforms for Guangzhou-Shenzhen Science and Technology Corridor designated by Guangdong, Shenzhen initiated the construction of Baguang international bio-valley last September. The core area of the bio-valley has been included on the list of national innovation demonstration zones. It will focus on the development of bio-medicine, life health, marine and other emerging industries, while endeavoring to become a world-class life-science town.
