Balotelli is back on the market
    2019-07-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

MARSEILLE president Jacques-Henri Eyraud confirmed Wednesday Mario Balotelli’s departure following the end of his contract, as the club is trying to cut wages following its failure to reach the Champions League this past season.

Balotelli joined Marseille in January on a six-month deal after terminating his contract with Nice, where he had fallen out of favor with manager Patrick Vieira.

Despite the short stint, Balotelli has produced some memorable moments with Marseille, scoring eight goals in 12 Ligue 1 appearances total.

Even though it seems like Balotelli has been around forever, he’s only about to turn 29 in August.

West Ham has been a rumored destination for the mercurial Italian, who hasn’t played in England since 2014-15, when he sputtered during his lone season with Liverpool.

Balotelli does have a Premier League winners’ medal from the 2011-12 season with Manchester City, and could be a valuable addition to the Hammers as they push for European spots this season.(SD-Agencies)
