Survey result of city gyms made public
    2019-07-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN Institute of Consumption Quality (SICQ) recently conducted an investigation into 10 gyms in Shenzhen. The result shows that the average net promoter score (NPS) of these gyms is 36.29, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported.

Based on the score, the top five gyms are CATIC Wellness (NPS 48.54), Tera Wellness (NPS 43.36), Zhongtian Fitness (37.17), LEFIT (36.63) and Caifu Fitness (35.92).

According to SICQ, NPS is a widely adopted evaluation system that gauges the loyalty of a firm’s customers. NPS asks two questions of customers: how would you rate the service on a scale of 1 to 10 and why.

The investigation received 1,020 valid randomized data points. The interviews were centered on nine aspects, namely qualifications, staff level, fitness equipment, service fee, course professionalism, environment, popularity, service attitude and after-sales service.

Among them, environment, service fee, service attitude, course professionalism and equipment were the main reasons for a recommendation, the report said.

At present, there are over 2,000 gyms across the city.

As the demand for bodybuilding has increased, SICQ advises residents to choose large and qualified brands. Residents should also visit gyms in person to check out their business qualifications.

Additionally, SICQ suggests that residents try out the gym for a short period of time before purchasing a long-term package.

Finally, SICQ warns about the risks of pre-paid consumption, as stores might close their doors without any notice. In the first half of this year, Shenzhen Consumer Council received 21,593 complaints regarding pre-paid consumption, which accounted for over 20 percent of the total complaints, according to the report.
