THE British Royal Family is seeking a new chef to step up to the plate and live with them in Buckingham Palace.

The full-time role calls for applicants with a “clear passion for food” to produce meals to the “highest standard” for the hungry royals.

The advert, listed on the Royal Family’s website, does not say specifically who the lucky candidate will be cooking for.

However, it does say they will be expected to travel to other royal residences, hinting their skills will be put to the test by different members of the family.

The role that is up for grabs is a Demi Chef de Partie — a chef who oversees a particular section of the kitchen.

But applicants will be expected to stay on their toes as the advert says they will be rotated through all sections of the kitchen.

The role offers a salary of £22,076.04 (US$27,590) per year, of which some would be deducted if the chef opts to take up residence in the palace.

However, the deal is sweetened by the meals that will be included in the package.

The Buckingham Palace advert states: “As you’d expect, standards are exceptionally high here, and every day is busy, so you’ll need to be an ambitious and qualified chef.

“You may have some previous experience within a premier kitchen or volume catering environment, but it’s your ability and enthusiasm to deliver across all sections of the kitchen that we’re looking for.”

But if you think the Royals can ask chefs in Buckingham Palace to cook whatever they fancy, you would be wrong.

Instead, they must eat whatever the Queen wants — and that means an almost total ban on carbs.

According to Darren McGrady, the Queen’s former personal chef, she steers well clear of pasta and never has rice or potatoes on the palace menu.

And garlic was outlawed in the palace kitchens for fear of bad breath.
