Parking lot data linked to regulator
    2019-07-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

SHENZHEN has carried out a series of measures to ensure vehicle security and facilitate static traffic management and smart parking, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Shenzhen currently has 5,970 commercial parking lots. Over 4,300 of them have uploaded their parking data to the city’s online parking regulatory system, which receives real-time parking information from the parking lots.

At present, the city is pushing ahead with smart parking. For instance, Shenzhen Parking Technology Industry Association has established a system that identifies cars by their license plates and charges car owners parking fees by automatically billing their bank accounts. The service has been adopted by more than 3,500 parking lots.

Moreover, the association collaborates with digital map providers so that drivers can see the number of available parking spaces in the parking lots in real time on their phones.

The city’s police system has also been linked to the online parking regulatory system, enabling traffic police officers to effectively detect and intercept cars that have violated traffic rules, such as using fake license plates, or are suspected of being involved in crimes.

To improve the order inside parking lots, the city’s traffic police have established a mechanism to improve the efficiency of handling minor accidents inside parking lots.  (Liu Wenjin)
