Green development sees progress
    2019-07-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

REMARKABLE results have been achieved in green development in Bao’an District following a slew of energy-saving and emission-reduction projects in recent years, the Bao’an Daily reported.

Last year, the district’s energy consumption per unit of GDP fell 4.32 percent from a year earlier. The same figure for water consumption dropped 2.34 percent year on year.

The district has urged 32 key enterprises to conduct clean production. A total of 38 companies in Bao’an have earned certification by the energy management system.

In terms of industrial parks, Bao’an has selected the Changfeng industrial park and Jinjia industrial park as key reconstruction projects. At present, the two industrial parks have begun reconstruction.

Additionally, 33 projects have been identified as green construction. The recently added green construction area in the district covers 2.06 million square meters. Five projects, including Haicheng Primary School, have received national green construction awards.

Due to the popularity of new-energy vehicles, Bao’an has added 165 electric vehicle charging stations for public buses, 709 for taxis and 2,006 charging stations in an area near the main logistics centers, shopping malls and residential communities.

The district has also strengthened financial support for environmentally friendly demonstration projects. Last year, 29.64 million yuan (US$4.31 million) was provided to 45 qualified projects.

A series of trainings on saving energy were held between June 11 and 20. Representatives from key energy consumption units, property management companies and hotels attended the trainings.

Other activities, such as a selection of excellent families in garbage sorting, a “clear your plate” campaign and educational lectures about garbage sorting on campus, were held to put the idea of saving energy into daily life.
