Bao’an pushes trash sorting as new trend
    2019-07-24  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

PARTY members, lawmakers and political advisers visited housing estates in Xin’an and Xixiang subdistricts Friday night to learn about the implementation of household garbage classification and listen to the suggestions of residents and property management companies, the Bao’an Daily reported.

The activity, co-organized by Bao’an District Urban Management and Comprehensive Law Enforcement Bureau and the Bao’an Daily, marked the launch of a series of field visits by Party members, lawmakers and political advisers.

The series of thematic events aims to popularize the green lifestyle and promote garbage classification as a new trend in the society.

Chen Qiong, a deputy to the provincial people’s congress and an “ambassador” for garbage sorting and promotion, held a cordial conversation with two residents to inquire about the implementation of garbage classification in two residential estates.

According to a man surnamed Li, residents found it very inconvenient at first when the garbage bins were removed from the floors of the residential building, because they have to go to a designated point that collects classified garbage and sometimes it requires taking two trips when they have a lot of garbage.

Li said the purpose of garbage classification is good and now everyone is getting used to it.

A woman surnamed Lin told Chen that the overall environment of the residential estate that she lives in has greatly improved since the promotion of garbage classification.

Gong Jiangnan, a political adviser and deputy editor-in-chief of the Bao’an Daily, said he felt that Bao’an residents had really taken action in garbage sorting, which enhances his confidence in promoting garbage classification.

Gong noted that special attention should be paid to residents’ classification of garbage as well as waste treatment.  (Zhang Yu)
