Housing project probed for false advertising
    2019-07-26  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A HOUSING project in Longgang District has been found to be involved in false advertising during a citywide inspection conducted by the city’s market regulator and housing and construction bureau, according to news outlet Nanfang Plus.

The Jixiang Yuefu housing estate, located to the west of Jixiang Road 1 and developed by Shenzhen Xinjia Investment Co. Ltd., is offering a total of 760 apartments.

At the housing project’s exhibition center, the developer put up banners saying that homeowners will be eligible to enroll their children at Dongxing Foreign Language School and touting its proximity to Shuanglong Metro Station of Line 3.

However, according to a document issued by the district’s education bureau, the foreign language school in the neighborhood is already facing a shortage of school seats, so there is no guarantee that every applicant who wants to be enrolled at the school will get a seat.

It has also been reported that the housing project exaggerated its proximity to Metro stations. A salesperson with the estate claimed that it was “very close” to Metro stations. However, the one operational Metro station is actually around four kilometers away, and the other one, which is around one kilometer away, is currently under construction.

The housing project has also been questioned by some netizens for failing to provide renderings of apartment layouts to potential homebuyers. According to screenshots of online chats between a salesperson and a potential buyer, the salesperson said that the company would not allow them to show the apartment illustrations homebuyers.
