5 dead after bus from SZ to Guilin flips over
    2019-08-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A COACH bus leaving Shenzhen for Guilin in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region flipped onto its side on the Dagui Mountain section of the expressway from Guangdong to Hezhou in Guangxi on Wednesday afternoon at around 5 p.m., the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Local traffic police, fire and medical departments rushed to the scene to conduct rescue work after the incident. Victims were immediately taken to the hospital.

According to the local police, the bus was carrying a total of 20 passengers. The accident caused five fatalities. One passenger sustained a serious injury, while five suffered minor injuries and eight were left with slight injuries.

The bus driver was reportedly uninjured. A breath alcohol test revealed no signs of drunk driving.

The bus has a Shenzhen-registered license plate (粤BAQ378), which belongs to a Shenzhen transport company called Baoluhua Baolong. The vehicle’s annual inspection is valid through Aug. 31, 2019. The vehicle’s license is valid until January 2020, while the driver’s license expires Dec. 10, 2019, according to the report.

The Shenzhen Municipal Transport Bureau along with the Bao’an District government and the Shenzhen transport company also sent staff to the site to handle any further issues.   (Wang Jingli)
