Public housing available for drivers, cleaners
    2019-08-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

THE Shenzhen Municipal Housing Security Bureau recently announced a plan to provide 1,200 units of public rental housing (PRH) for bus drivers and sanitation workers, the Shenzhen Evening News reported.

The 1,200 units will be evenly allocated to 600 bus drivers who work for qualified bus enterprises and 600 sanitation workers including street cleaners and garbage cleaners who were hired by qualified hygiene offices.

The announcement said that relevant bus enterprises and the public environmental hygiene offices should submit their applications to designated authorities to help the qualified workers rent the housing.

After reviewing all the applications, authorities will form a list of qualified tenants and send it to the municipal housing security bureau before Sept. 30 for a final review.

Successful enterprises and institutions should distribute the housing to qualified tenants accordingly and report renters’ names to the superior authority.

The 1,200 housing units include 948 in Longhai Jiayuan, Longyueju, Longzeyuan, Longrui Jiayuan, Heyueju, Langlu Jiayuan, Jinsui Garden, Tiansong Yayuan and other public rental housing communities. The remaining 252 units are still being prepared.

The Shenzhen Municipal Housing and Construction Bureau issued three documents April 29 to set rules for PRH, affordable housing and housing for talents.

Apart from middle-class and low-income households, PRH is also available for residents who provide basic public services in the city such as bus drivers and sanitation workers and people who work in the advanced manufacturing industry.

Regarding the housing allocation pattern, PRH adopts a combination of waiting list allocation and targeted allocation while affordable housing and talent housing are to be given based on different batches.

Meanwhile, preferential policies, such as increasing the number of draws, arranging two lottery numbers and giving appropriate bonus points, are said to be adopted for families having disabled people and others enjoying special care. (Jiang Wenyi)
