    2019-08-07  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A miner walks in a self-rescue equipment room next to the entrance of a coal mine from Longmay Group on the outskirts of Jixi, Heilongjiang Province, in this file photo. Approvals for new coal mine construction in China have surged in 2019, government documents showed, with the government expecting consumption of the commodity to rise in the coming years. The National Energy Administration (NEA) gave the go-ahead to build 141 million tons of new annual coal production capacity from January to June, compared to 25 million tons over the whole of last year, NEA documents showed.
