Yang Mi ditches Versace endorsement
    2019-08-12  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CHINESE actress Yang Mi announced via her agent on social media yesterday that she has canceled her endorsement agreement with Versace after netizens found the Italian luxury brand launched a series of T-shirts that mistakenly listed Hong Kong and Macao in parallel with other countries.

“As a Chinese citizen, Ms. Yang Mi is very indignant that Versace’s mistake blatantly defies the sovereignty and territorial integrality of China,” the statement said on Sina Weibo.

It said Yang has sent an official letter to notify the brand of her decision and has stopped all business cooperation with Versace.

In response, Versace posted on Sina Weibo yesterday saying they have recalled all the unsold T-shirts from its sales subsidiaries July 24 to be destroyed. The brand also apologized for “making the mistake.”

Yang, born Sept. 12, 1986, is one of most popular Chinese actresses today. She has an endorsement deal with Michael Kors, the mother company of Versace, and signed the deal with Versace in June.
