Law student takes Shanghai Disney to court
    2019-08-13  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A LAW School student in Shanghai has taken Shanghai Disney Resort to court for not allowing her to bring her own snacks into the park, news portal Paper.cn reported Sunday.

The student, who is surnamed Wang and is a junior at East China University of Political Science and Law, said she was told to either throw away or finish the snacks in her backpack, which were worth 46.30 yuan (US$6.56), after security personnel caught her smuggling food into the park. She eventually discarded her snacks.

Shanghai Disney Resort has banned outside food, alcohol and non-alcohol beverages over 600 milliliters inside its park since November 2017, according to Paper.cn.

Since that visit to the park in late January Wang has filed a series of complaints to the municipal public hotlines and regulators. In March, she brought the case to the People’s Court of Pudong New Area, where the theme park is located.

She called for the park’s ban to be overturned and for the park to compensate her loss of 46.30 yuan. The case was heard April 23 and is still pending a verdict.
