Huawei launched its first Harmony OS-powered devices: the Honor Vision and Honor Vision Pro smart TVs at the Huawei Developer Conference in Dongguan last weekend.

The TVs include Huawei’s Honghu 818 chipset, an octa-core processor which will process the images seen on screen. They also include a 55-inch, 4K display, and can be used as a smart home hub. The screens are able to provide viewers with information such as the weather, and can be controlled via a smartphone.

The Honor Vision Pro comes with an adjustable pop-up AI camera and six far-field microphones, which can be used for video calling.

The Vision comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage and the Pro with 2GB RAM and 32GB storage. Honor Vision is built of 6.9mm full metal frame and a diamond pattern rear. The smart TVs are also certified for eye comfort mode. The TVs come with Wifi, Bluetooth 5.0, an Ethernet port*, three HDMI 2.0 ports and one USB 3.0 port.

The TVs are priced at 3,799 yuan (US$538) and 4,799 yuan respectively.

The Harmony OS is open source and will be available to developers. Huawei wants to focus on Harmony OS as it wants less dependency on Google in the future.

The OS is part of Huawei’s Internet of Things* strategy where it is trying to create a consistent experience across various connected devices through its software. It said Harmony OS will eventually be used across devices from smartphones to smart watches, and even smart speakers and in-vehicle systems.(SD-Agencies)
