Heliport’s relocation provides more space
    2019-08-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

NANSHAN District will have an additional 12 million square meters of space for industrial development, especially for high-tech industry, with the relocation of the Nantou helicopter airport.

Due to height restrictions, the area around Nantou Heliport, which mainly serves to transport Nanhai oil drilling platform staff and supplies, has remained undeveloped.

The heliport will be moved to Zhangkengjing in Guanlan, Longhua District, according to a recent public notice released by Guangdong Provincial Development and Reform Commission. Work on the new airport will start in 2020.

After the heliport’s relocation, the nearby area, including the Liuxiandong Base and Nanshan Intelligent Park, will be rezoned and upgraded. The relocation may also relieve the contradictions of population and land resources in Nanshan District.

The Liuxiandong base for emerging industries will serve as a new platform for industrial upgrading and usher in the future of Nanshan, and even Shenzhen. It is one of six major industrial bases of Shenzhen and is divided into seven zones for development. The construction space in the area will reach 6.83 million square meters.

The Zhangkengjing general aviation airport will cover 291,990 square meters within an area enclosed by Pinglong Road, Qingping Expressway, Jihe Expressway and Banlan Boulevard.
