Report details regulations on paid leave
    2019-08-15  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

PARENTS are paying close attention to paid leave during the summer holiday in order to take their children traveling, according to the Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

Eleven statutory holidays can be guaranteed in addition to paid leave of between five and 15 days for those who have worked for at least a year, the Shenzhen Economic daily reported.

A document recently released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security clarifies the length and standard of five categories of paid leave, namely public holiday, statutory holiday, annual leave, family reunion leave, and marriage and bereavement leave.

As for public holidays, at least one day off per week should be guaranteed for workers at every institution or enterprise. Eleven days off can be enjoyed as statutory holidays, with one day off for New year’s Day, three days off for Spring Fesitival, one day off for Tomb-sweeping Day, one day off for International Worker’s Day, one day off for Dragon Boat Festival, one day off for Mid-Autumn Festival and three days off for National Day.

If these days happen to be on the weekend, the day off should be realized upon the following working days.

Staffers who have worked for at least a year can enjoy paid annual leave. As for those who have worked more than a year but less than 10 years, they should have five days of paid leave. Those who have worked as many as 10 years but less than 20 years can have 10 days off, while those who worked more than 20 years, get 15 days off.

Single staffers have 20 days of paid leave per year to visit their parents who live in a different city, while married staffers have 20 days over four years. When visiting spouses who live in a different city, staffers have 30 days of paid leave per year.

Staffers can enjoy three days off for marriage leave and are allowed to rest for three days after an immediate family member’s death as well as three days after the death of their spouse’s parents.
