洗衣液男孩
    2019-08-22  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

Meaning:

“洗衣液” means “laundry detergent,” and “男孩” means “boys.” This term, coined by Chinese netizens, refers to “neat and tidy young men,” who may actually smell a little bit of the detergent because their clothes are always fresh from washing. Such a person may also trim their fingernails often and keep their teeth clean and white. Handsome or not, this type of young men are popular among women.

Example:

A: 丽丽的男朋友你见过吗?

Lìlì de nánpéngyou nǐ jiànguò ma?

Have you met Lili’s boyfriend?

B: 见过。周末我还在商场遇见他俩。

Jiànguò。Zhōumò wǒ hái zài shāngchǎng yùjiàn tāliǎ。

Yes, I have. I met them just over the weekend in a shopping mall.

A: 这个男生是典型的“洗衣液男孩”,不算帅,但看起来很舒服。

Zhè ge nánshēng shì diǎnxíng de xǐyīyè nánhái,búsuàn shuài,dàn kànqǐlái hěn shūfú。

This young man belongs to the type they call “detergent boys.” He’s not exactly good-looking, but looking at him makes people feel comfortable.
