Exhibition ‘Turkey from the Chinese Lens’ held in Shanghai
    2019-08-29  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A PHOTOGRAPHY exhibition themed “Turkey from the Chinese Lens” has been organized by the leadership of Turkish-Chinese Business Development and Friendship Association, and joint contributions of Turkish Consulate General of Shanghai, the Shanghai University for the Elderly and Shanghai University Center for Turkish Studies.

With Onur Air’s main sponsorship, 42 photos from Turkey are now being exhibited in one of Shanghai’s busiest shopping center, Huaihai 755, and can be visited between the dates of Aug. 27 and Sept. 4.

The exhibited works were created by 25 students from the Shanghai University for the Elderly during their travel to Turkey with the supervision of professors Ni Min and Shao Jianchun in April.

The opening ceremony will be held at Huaihai 755 tomorrow. Guests attending the ceremony will include Tunc Angili, Consulate General of Turkey in Shanghai, Wang Weiyun, General Manager of Huaihai 755, Guo Changgang, Adnan Akfirat from China Business Development and Friendship Association, Ma Xiangguo, vice president of Shanghai University for Elderly, and Ni Min, the principal of the Changlong Imaging Agency.

The Shanghai University for the Elderly is directly affiliated with the Shanghai Government Education Commission and aims to improve the quality of life of the elderly/retirees in a comprehensive way. “Students” that retired from several positions like businessmen, civil servants, teachers, diplomats, financiers and senior managers in industrial companies photographed hundreds of sites in the most famous cities in Turkey, from Cappadocia to Konya, Izmir, Antalya and Istanbul.

Professor Ni described Turkey as a “country where colors look most beautiful,” and added that the students were very excited because they got a chance to exhibit their photographs from Turkey. This exhibition will improve the relationship between China and Turkey, and more Chinese will be able to travel to Turkey to photograph more beautiful landscapes.

Adnan Akfirat, the pioneer of the exhibition, said that the objective of “Turkey from the Chinese Lens” is to develop Turkey-China relations at the social level and by contributing to Turkey’s publicity, to attract more tourists from China by offering hospitality in Turkey.

Cankut Bagana, an esteemed connoisseur professional in Turkish tourism industry and the Chairman of Onur Air, sees the exhibition as a step of “Aerial Silk Road,” an idea of making Istanbul the center of the three continents.
