Photo of doctor sleeping against wall goes viral
    2019-08-30  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A DOCTOR in Shenzhen has recently gone viral on social media because of a photo. He was hailed by netizens for having the most handsome sleeping position, according to the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.

In the photo, the doctor named Dai Yu is sleeping while sitting on the floor against the wall of the operating room. It was reported that Dai had performed seven operations in a row before the picture was taken.

The moment was snapped by another doctor who happened to catch the sight. The photo was uploaded to the Internet and garnered more than 70,000 likes on social media within two days.

Dai was the deputy director with the orthopedics department of Longgang District Central Hospital. He and his team had to complete 10 operations that day.

According to the Daily, Dai began the first operation at around 9 a.m. He had a simple meal at around 11 a.m., during an interval when an anesthesiologist was putting the next patient to sleep. Dai completed the seventh operation at around 4 p.m.

During preparation for the eighth operation, he sat on the floor and rested against the wall of the operating room for around 10 minutes, wearing a surgical gown and a medical mask around his neck.

Dai didn’t leave the operating room until he had finished the last operation at around 9 p.m. It was reported that he had barely rested for more than 20 minutes during the 10 hours of operations.

Dai has been a doctor for more than 10 years. “The netizens may not know much about it, but sleeping on the floor with a surgical gown has become a habit among doctors. Ten surgeries are actually not that many,” he told the Daily.

Dai added that he had once started at 9 a.m. and didn’t finish operating until midnight.

He emphasized that there are doctors far more hard-working than he is. In addition to their hectic work schedules on ordinary days, doctors and nurses also need to be on duty and check the wards during holidays.
