Panic inciters prosecuted
    2019-09-02  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

FIVE people who made a video for a practical joke, causing panic on a Metro Line 7 train during the evening rush hour one day in June, were prosecuted last week, according to Futian People’s Procuratorate.

According to prosecutors, the five suspects made the practical joke video to earn views and hits online.

When the train approached Huaqiang North Station, one of the suspects, surnamed Wu, held his phone in his hand and suddenly shouted “everyone lie down, beware of land mines,” while shooting a video of the reactions of the passengers.

After hearing the remarks, one of the suspects lay down on the floor of the train compartment, while three others took videos while pretending to be audience members.

The terrifying remarks caused panic among the passengers, who ran to the ends of the train and later rushed out when the train arrived at the station. It caused serious chaos at Huaqiang South Station and forced the operator to send another train to carry away the stranded passengers.
