Construction of industrial park starts in Harbin
    2019-09-03  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

CONSTRUCTION on the Shenzhen (Harbin) Industrial Park in Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, began Sunday morning, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

Shenzhen Party chief Wang Weizhong led a delegation to visit Harbin on Saturday and Sunday and to attend the construction ceremony.

With a planned area of 26 square kilometers, the industrial park is located in the Harbin area of the Heilongjiang pilot free trade zone. It aims to create four industrial clusters for new-generation information technology (IT), new materials, intelligent manufacturing and modern service industry.

In the southern part of the park, a science and technology innovation ecological park covering about 1.53 square kilometers will be planned as the core startup area.

The first project in the start-up area will cover 220,000 square meters and will become the park’s science and technology center, gathering talents, enterprises and resources from high-end industries.

A joint venture was established by Shenzhen and Harbin on May 17, which is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the park.

The strategic cooperation between Shenzhen and Harbin is part of an important measure taken by the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the State Council to revitalize Northeast China, the country’s old industrial base.

Since March 2017, Shenzhen and Harbin have been actively carrying out all-round and multi-level bilateral cooperation.

By the end of July, 96 cooperation projects had been signed between Shenzhen and Harbin, with total investment exceeding 100 billion yuan (US$13.97 billion). Eighteen projects have been put into operation and 28 projects are under construction, with a total investment of nearly 15 billion yuan.
