THE Standing Committee of the Sixth Bao’an District People’s Congress held its 44th meeting to hear and deliberate the special work reports of the district’s people’s court and procuratorate Aug. 29. Ma Wenquan, president of Bao’an District People’s Court, said in his report that in the first half of 2019, the court focused on improving the construction of the district’s comprehensive legal service center and subcenters and providing the public with multi-channel, multi-level and multi-type dispute resolution methods. The district’s people’s court has also taken the lead in the country in introducing 5G technology for the live broadcast of trials, according to Ma. Huang Guanming, deputy procurator-general of Bao’an District People’s Procuratorate, delivered a report on the supervision and management of detention facilities in the first half of 2019. According to Huang, the district’s people’s procuratorate has made innovations in its working mechanism for handling cases and strengthened its supervision and management of detention facilities. The procuratorate also held its first-ever public hearing on the necessity of detention. The meeting pointed out that the development of the rule of law is of paramount importance for Shenzhen in building a pilot demonstration area of socialism with Chinese characteristics. It is stressed that the district’s people’s court and procuratorate should adhere to the principle of justice for the people, strengthen the work of resolving disputes in diversified ways and the supervision and management of prisons, and further improve the quality of judicial services.
