AN app-based cab driver for Didi Chuxing has been detained for allegedly harassing a female passenger.

After dropping off two passengers in Shenzhen as part of a car pooling service from Meizhou to Guangzhou, the driver, surnamed Cai, required a female passenger surnamed Luo to be dropped off in Shenzhen by deducting 20 yuan (US$3) from Luo’s fare. Luo later agreed and paid 130 yuan.

But the driver started to harass Luo as night fell, and Cai was detained for five days by officers, who arrived at the scene due to the harassment, and fined 30,000 yuan and had his car impounded for 30 days for involvement in illegal business.
