SZ Bay Park bans bikes on festival

SHENZHEN Bay Park has banned bicycles during Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Sept. 13 this year, to ease the crowds. At the same time, vehicles might not be able to pull into the park’s parking lots due to traffic control on Binhai Boulevard and Wanghai Road, according to the Municipal Urban Administration and Law Enforcement Bureau.

The reasonable capacity of Shenzhen Bay Park is 40,000 based on the park’s construction standard. After the operation of Metro Line 9 in November 2016, the number of tourists in the park on weekends grew to over 100,000.

The figure rocketed to between 200,000 and 300,000 on previous national holidays. Given this, the city’s park management center, along with the traffic police bureau and other relevant departments, decided to enact traffic control on Binhai Road and Wanghai Road for Mid-Autumn Festival.

Apart from Shenzhen Bay Park, Lianhua Hill Park is another hot destination for tourists, especially during the days when the light show is played.

As the area of the square atop the Lianhua Hill is limited, residents are advised to follow the park’s instructions and not stay too long. Due to construction projects currently being conducted at the Civic Center in Futian, the light show will be suspended Sept. 13 for safety reasons.

Fire engineering, street light and other infrastructure projects are also under way at the Tanglang Mountain country park, which might cause inconvenience to tourists. Citizens and visitors are thus reminded to be careful for their safety.
