A 2-YEAR-OLD boy identified as Xiaobo, who had been diagnosed with subdural hematoma along with cerebral hernia after falling and hitting the back of his head against the ground while playing with a ball at home, is recovering and has been discharged from the hospital, the Southern Metropolis Daily reported. The boy had been crying for a while after the incident before eventually being calmed down. However, he started vomiting and wanted to sleep while having dinner and a bath that night. Seeing this, Xiaobo’s parents immediately took him to a hospital near his home, where he lost consciousness and his leg began twitching. Given the situation, Xiaobo was then sent to Longgang District People’s Hospital. Medical personnel there decided to perform a surgery after confirming the boy had suffered a subdural hematoma and cerebral hernia. Xiaobo received further treatment at the ICU after surgery and recovered in three days thanks to the timely and proper treatment. “Xiaobo is lucky that he was taken to the hospital in time,” said the director of the neurosurgery department at Longgang District People’s Hospital, surnamed Jia. Jia suggested that parents should be very careful when kids between 1 and 6 years old get hurt. If abnormal situations or symptoms are noticed, such as fainting, vomiting, feeling weakness in the arms and legs, sleeping deeply and being unable to stop crying after a fall, they should take their kid to a hospital to avoid missing the best window for treatment.
