Registration for Nanshan Half Marathon starts
    2019-09-19  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

The 2019 China Resources Shenzhen Nanshan Half Marathon is accepting registration on its official website www.szns-marathon.com and WeChat account (huarunrunsai).

The event will take place Nov. 24 at 8 a.m. The 21.0975-km route will be T-shaped, with the main section traveling along Shennan Boulevard and Shahe Road West. The starting point of the course is at the East Gate of Shenzhen Talent Park (深圳人才公园东门) and the finish is at Shenzhen Bay Sports Center (深圳湾体育中心).

The organizer has offered 16,000 slots for runners, including 12,500 for individual runners, 500 for charity-run individual runners, 2,700 for 90 running groups and 300 for 10 charity-run groups. Participants should be born in 2001 or earlier. Lottery selection results will be announced via mobile messages Sept. 26.

Runners who finished within one hour and 25 minutes in the men’s category and one hour and 50 minutes in the women’s category in the 2018 event or those who had attended the event every year from 2015 to 2018 are eligible for slots without having to participate in the lottery selection.

For running groups to be eligible to skip the lottery selection, they should have had at least 15 runners participating in the 2018 event, and each group should have at least five female runners. The top 10 groups in the 2018 event are also granted slots without entering the lottery selection.

Registration fees will be refunded to those who fail to be selected via lottery. Individuals who fail to be selected can then apply for charity run, which is still the half marathon but with a higher registration fee. Proceeds from the charity-run registration fees will go to Nanshan Charity Association and China Resources Charity Foundation.

Male and female champions will be awarded 10,000 yuan each, and those who break the Nanshan Half Marathon records by Kiprop Philip Calvin and Mathathi Lydiah Njeri will be awarded an extra 10,000 yuan. In 2017, Kenya male runner Calvin made the record of one hour, four minutes and 53 seconds and Kenya female runner Njeri made the record of one hour, 13 minutes and 49 seconds.

Registration deadlines:

Individuals: 6 p.m., Sept. 25

Groups: 6 p.m., Sept. 19

Charity: 6 p.m., Sept. 29

Registration fees:

Individuals: 150 yuan per runner
