Stroke survivor

A WRITER surnamed Chen, who lived alone in Bao’an District, was saved by his friends two days after suffering a stroke at home.

Chen’s friends, who would often get together to discuss writing, lost contact with Chen on Sept. 11.

On the morning of Sept. 12, they set up a WeChat group to search for him. They finally got in contact with Chen’s brother back in his hometown. When they went to Chen’s home, they found that he was lying on the floor unconscious.

Chen had suffered a stroke and was discharged from a hospital after a week of treatment.

Combined tests

THE trains running on the Guangzhou-Dongguan-Shenzhen intercity rail started coordinated tests Tuesday, marking a further step toward the commencement of the line’s operation.

The trains on the 76-km line will run at five-minute intervals. The line has 15 stations, including four stations in Shenzhen.
