‘Cats’

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical “Cats” is being staged in town.

Ancient books

Finely printed and revised Chinese books printed from the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) to the early 20th century are on display.

Xiong Wenyun’s works

Xiong Wenyun, who is renowned for exploring color and its effects through painting, photography and multimedia works, is holding her solo exhibition.

Dates: Until Sept. 27

Venue: C2 Space, North Area, OCT-LOFT, Nanshan District (南山区华侨城创意园北区C2展厅)

Metro: Line 2 to Qiaocheng North Station (侨城北站), Exit B

Sea World center

The “Y-COMIC-X?” exhibition, running until Sept. 30, showcases more than 400 Chinese comic works by 85 artists created since the 1920s. The “Marine Life in the Forbidden City” multimedia exhibition, running until Oct. 8, takes visitors on a journey of discovering the mysteries of the sea creatures depicted by Qing Dynasty painter Nie Huang. A new exhibition running until Nov. 10 at Park View Gallery is reinterpreting an ancient woodworking craft through its display of a variety of mortise and tenon joints as well as sleek modern designs inspired by the craft.

Tango’s cartoons

Shanghai artist Tango is exhibiting his witty cartoons at the “Doors” exhibition.

Dates: Until Oct. 7

Painting exhibitions

“Truth of Nature,” a Chinese painting exhibition featuring Guangdong master Lin Fengsu’s works, is being held until Sept. 22. “Ten Thousand Ranges of Hills Left Behind,” a grand exhibition of paintings depicting the beautiful Three Gorges, is being held until Sept. 26.
