CHINESE authorities have launched a national food safety campaign, requiring the “strictest” supervision over the food sector and the “harshest” penalties for violations.

Criminal cases ended

CHINESE courts concluded about 6.69 million criminal cases in their first trials from 2013 to 2018, convicting 7.5 million people, the Supreme People’s Court (SPC) said Thursday.

Among the cases, 229,000 involve severe crimes, including homicide, robbery, kidnapping and planting bombs, with 284,000 criminals punished, the SPC said.
