CITY’S INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS POPULAR AT WUZHEN EXPO
    2019-10-23  08:53    Shenzhen Daily

A TOTAL of 16 Shenzhen companies — including heavyweights like Tencent and Huawei, and startups like Wende Zhikong Technology — are showcasing their innovative high-tech projects at the 6th Light of Internet Expo, which opened Friday in Wuzhen, East China’s Zhejiang Province.

The 6th Light of Internet Expo, a warm-up event of the 6th World Internet Conference that concluded yesterday, has opened nearly 20,000 square meters of new venues and added more than 200 booths, setting a new record for the number of exhibitors, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported yesterday.

In the bustling A2 exhibition hall, Tencent’s artificial intelligence (AI) display counter gathered many visitors lining up for a chance to try the Tencent Miying fundus disease screening AI system.

Zhou Daizhou, a staffer with Tencent, said it is the first launch of the fundus disease AI screening experience activity in Wuzhen. Featuring accuracy, speed and convenience, the AI system can complete the screening of fundus diseases in less than three minutes.

Miying is Tencent’s first AI-assisted medical solution that combines AI technology with big data. Utilizing AI medical image analysis, the system can assist clinicians in screening for early-stage lung cancer, fundus lesions, colorectal cancer, cervical cancer, breast cancer and other diseases.

As of May this year, Tencent Miying had assisted doctors in reading 270 million medical images, serving more than 1.6 million patients.

According to Zhang Lijun, vice president of Tencent, the company has applied for more than 3,000 AI patents and published over 300 high-quality academic papers.

The tech giant also announced Monday the launch of Tencent Science Week, which will be held in the first week of November every year as a global event for scientific exploration.

Shenzhen Wende Zhikong Technology Co. Ltd. is a startup established this year. The company’s self-developed garbage sorting robot drew much attention during its debut at the expo.

Chang Zheng, chairman of the company, said the garbage sorting robot adopts the “Internet of Things + recycling” model and mainly targets residential estates.

The robot can detect the shape, texture and density of garbage in a plastic bag through an internal image projection device. Combined with relevant equipment, it can measure the humidity of the garbage and automatically identify whether it is kitchen waste or nonkitchen waste.

Meanwhile, the bag-breaking device in the machine can automatically tear the plastic bag containing kitchen waste, squeeze the waste out completely, separate the plastic bag from the kitchen waste, and then pick up the garbage bag and put it into the corresponding bin.(Zhang Yu)
