CONSTRUCTION began on nine new major projects simultaneously yesterday in Qianhai, following a launch ceremony that was held to mark the latest round of fixed asset investment, which totaled about 15.42 billion yuan (US$2.18 billion).

Among the nine projects, seven are located in the Qianhai area, with a total investment of about 6.42 billion yuan, namely the CIMC Qianhai Complex Phase 2, the Man Wah Qianhai Tower, Mawan No. 1 Road and its utility tunnel, Tonggang Street and its utility tunnel, Integrity No. 2 Street, Integrity No. 3 Street and Kechuang No. 6 Street.

The CIMC Qianhai Complex Phase 2 project covers a total construction area of 150,000 square meters, with a total investment of 3.96 billion yuan. The complex will integrate global top-level resources, such as innovative marine technology, capital, talents and information to lead the innovative development of marine technology and the financial industry at home and abroad.

The 150-meter-high Man Wah Qianhai Tower is a Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation project that will serve as the headquarters of Man Wah Holdings Ltd. in South China. The total investment for the tower is 2 billion yuan.

Mawan No. 1 Road is 497 meters long and has six vehicle lanes in two directions, and Tonggang Street is 480 meters long with four vehicle lanes in two directions.

Upon completion, the traffic pressure in the Mawan area will be significantly relieved and the urban landscape will be improved as well.

The other two projects announced, namely the Baowan Building and Ruiwan Building, are being constructed in Bao’an District with a total investment of about 9 billion yuan.

The Baowan Building covers an area of 12,000 square meters, which will be developed into an urban complex that integrates a hotel, high-end apartments and a quality shopping mall.

The Ruiwan Building is 230 meters high, covering an area of 7,675 square meters. It will become a landmark building integrating office space, hotels and a commercial area.
